Projects using active technologies
We converted and extended an existing school to meet modern standards. The original brickwork was concealed with horizontal timber cladding over new insulation, while durable black brickwork was used at ground level and render at upper levels. A naturally ventilated circulation zone connects the new and existing buildings, illuminated by circular rooflights. The entrance is defined by a parapet wall and sheltered by a projecting roof.
This project includes a 334-seat auditorium, foyer, dance rehearsal spaces and back-of-house facilities. It features natural and locally sourced materials, maximised daylight, a ground source heat pump and automated environmental monitoring via sensors.
