Project Description
This low-energy house, located within a dense urban setting, is designed to remain comfortable in the increasingly hotter summers anticipated later this century. Every aspect of the project reflects a comprehensive approach to sustainability, starting with its contextual footprint and flexible, loose-fit planning that allows for long-term adaptability.
The design incorporates passive solar principles, thermal mass for heat regulation, and a carefully selected palette of low-energy materials. Additional sustainable features include rainwater harvesting, waste composting, and the strategic use of black and white cladding to absorb or reflect heat as needed. A ground source heat pump, solar thermal panels, and both solar and wind electricity generation contribute to the home’s low carbon footprint. Food gardening is also integrated into the scheme, reinforcing its commitment to self-sufficiency and ecological living. The result is a forward-thinking urban home that addresses both current and future environmental challenges.
