Last year we began our journey to be carbon neutral, with the help of Sustainability in Enterprise Project Team at Nottingham Trent University. The outcome from the Carbon impact assessment carried out by the SIE team has been broken down in to multiple phases to help Marsh:Grochowski have a smaller impact on the world.
Phase 1 was making small improvements to the office –as our office is already well insulated and uses low energy equipment we tackled other improvements, such as draught proofing and heat reflectors on the back of our electric radiators. We also carried out an air tightness test to see where all the leaks were and sealed these to making heating our office with the least amount of energy.
Phase 2 we installed Solar panels and a battery. As we don’t have a gas supply at the office the office is completely electric. We installed 3.4kw of pv panels and a 10kw battery in March, over the recent sunny months we have average over 90% off grid with still some energy being surplus put directly back into the grid.
This is just one of many steps we have been taking to make the office more sustainable and minimise our impact on the environment. Sustainability has always been a driving force for Marsh:Grochowski and is reflected in all of our projects. Keep an eye out for our future phases
