A ground-breaking ceremony marked the start of a new project commencing next year, bringing together Revd. Steve Silvester and other members of St. Nic's Church, along with representatives from Marsh:Grochowski Architects, Scope Construction, and Focus Consultants. The event celebrated an important milestone in the project’s journey and the collaborative effort behind its delivery.
The scheme at 79 Maid Marian Way will transform an existing two-storey building through refurbishment and new side and rear extensions, creating a new Church Centre with community-focused facilities including a main hall, kitchen, training spaces and offices. Responding to its Conservation Area setting and prominent location, the design introduces contemporary stone-clad elements inspired by St Nic’s Church, contrasted with darker brickwork to create a balanced, unified frontage and a strong architectural identity.
As a practice dedicated to creating meaningful spaces for people and communities, Marsh:Grochowski Architects is excited to be working alongside Scope Construction and Focus Consultants to bring this new Church Centre to life. We look forward to delivering a project that not only serves its community but also enhances the historic context and architectural character of the site.
