Lakeside Arts Centre
Client: University of Nottingham
Location: Nottingham
Project Type: Theatre | Community
Services: Public Architecture & Planning
Status: Completed 2001
Project Description
Situated in the south-east corner of University Park, the Lakeside Arts Centre serves as a cultural gateway to the University of Nottingham campus. Positioned on the edge of the boating lake, the building is carefully integrated into its landscape, forming an amphitheatre-like setting that creates a unique outdoor performance space beside the water.
Internally, the Centre houses a 250-seat theatre, dedicated exhibition spaces for the D. H. Lawrence archives, an art gallery, and bar/restaurant facilities. These amenities cater to both visitors and the wider university community, making the building a vibrant hub for arts, culture, and social activity within the parkland setting.
