Catfoot Lane
Client: Adrian Harkin
Location: Lambley, Nottinghamshire
Project Type: One-off Housing
Services: Architecture and Planning
Status: Completed 2007
Project Description
Constructed on valuable greenbelt land, this house is partially embedded into the site to reduce its visual and environmental impact. Designed to function as both a home and a workplace, it incorporates a range of sustainable technologies, including passive stack ventilation, solar thermal panels, photovoltaic panels, and high-performance thermal insulation to enhance energy efficiency and comfort.
The building's curving forms are thoughtfully shaped around principles of solar orientation and view optimization, allowing for abundant natural light and strong visual connections to the surrounding landscape. These design strategies not only enhance the quality of living within the home but also respond proactively to the challenges of a warming climate, ensuring the building remains adaptable, efficient, and resilient over time.
