Client: Wolverhampton University

Location: Wolverampton

Project Type: Theatre & Education

Services: Public Architecture & Planning

Status: Completed 1999

Project Description

This project involved the conversion of a former university basement gym and physics laboratory into a small-scale, fully accessible touring theatre. The scheme responds to the complex nature of the existing site, navigating seven different changes in level to deliver a cohesive and inclusive design.

The completed venue accommodates a 140-seat theatre, flexible cabaret space, bar, foyer, dressing rooms, and backstage facilities. The design balances technical functionality with spatial creativity, transforming a previously underused basement into a vibrant cultural destination.
